History

In 1984 Dr. Arthur Tom Horvath established a general clinical psychology practice in San Diego. In 1985 he began specializing in addiction.

In 1998, with the publication of Sex, Drugs, Gambling & Chocolate: A Workbook for Overcoming Addictions, the addiction aspect of the practice took the name Practical Recovery. Several years of rapid growth followed. Clients began coming from around the world. In 2004 the entire practice took on the name Pyrysys Psychology Group, Inc. Practical Recovery was joined by other specialty services including Supporting ME and My Therapy Team. In 2005 we added Reunion, a sober living home. In 2011 we will open residential addiction treatment facilities.

Pyrysys has grown to a staff of over 25, including psychologists and other mental health and health providers, and holistic providers. We continue our original focus as a general clinical psychology practice, with integrated specialty services. Our services and programs continue to evolve to meet the needs of individuals eager to take advantage of the latest and best that behavioral science has to offer.
